RPM training participants 2021
Training for the year was delivered in three different formats:
ONLINE
For the first time, this year we prepared theoretical content on the tool in an online format with five modules. The course was available on the RGCU Moodle.
VIRTUAL
We provided two virtual sessions with the Roca Spain Appraised and Appraisers group using the Teams platform.
IN PERSON
We worked with the Royo group to create three groups of Appraised and Appraisers. The session took place in person at the Royo Spain facilities.
The Appraised sessions covered the company and its history, as well as current financial data and figures. It worked on the mission, vision and values of Roca, as well as the foundations, competencies, system and process of RPM.
The Appraisers sessions were hands-on, with case studies and role plays. The explanation covered the appraisal and feedback interview phases of RPM in depth.
The overall satisfaction level for the RPM course in 2021 was 9.2/10.
16th Methods and Processes Meeting
The 16th Methods and Processes Meeting took place in 2021 and was held virtually for the second year in a row. Raquel Sarmiento, Corporate Productivity Manager, who took over from José Oviedo, organised this year’s meeting, together with RGCU.
Roca Morocco, in the region of Settat, with two porcelain manufacturing plants employing 725 people, was chosen to host the event. Miquel Crisol, Roca Morocco Managing Director, gave an overview of the operating environment in the country, the current situation of Roca Morocco, the domestic and export markets, and Roca Morocco’s future plans.

On the first day, Raquel Sarmiento presented the analysis and forecasts for 2022, and Sonia López and Antonio Arrabal provided information on new software updates.
Two training sessions took place during the meeting: a skills session “Leading at the speed of trust” and a technical session on Kaizen “Reduce the Mudas: key in the productivity”. The goal of the first session was to build trust as the key ingredient for obtaining results with people and to identify behaviours that build trusting relationships, alongside those with a negative impact. The second session on Kaizen Mudas took an in-depth look at this aspect of Kaizen, with an emphasis on the production of the Roca Group, drawing on specific case studies.
Carlos Velázquez, Sustainability Director, gave a presentation on the Roca Group sustainability policies, highlighting the need to continue making progress with this vision for the business as a fundamental priority for ensuring the competitiveness of the Group, followed by a discussion of future outlooks on new energy sources and other resources.
There was also a presentation on the best practices of 2021 for the implementation of the Roca System in Sriperumbudur and the shower screen and accessories factory.
Finally, attendees gave presentations on methods and processes implemented at the different plants.
The 16th Methods and Processes Meeting ended with a summary of the meeting and the goals for 2022.

“Organising the meeting online was a challenge for us. We needed to overcome a series of difficulties like time zones, connection issues, slimming down the content into fewer hours, virtual visits, finding new tools for sharing information and ensuring that everyone attended and participated. Fortunately, it was a success, thanks to the dedication of everyone at RGCU, the trainers and all those who took part.
While the meeting is important for all attendees, it is even more so for new staff, since it allows them to get to know their colleagues and helps build relationships between them. All the attendees share their experience, best practices and points of view. The meeting aims to create a synergy among productivity managers at all our plants and build our knowledge to ensure our area is up-to-date, helping optimise performance and motivation. We plan to continue the practice over the coming years to help promote talent and add value to our company.”
Language Centre
In 2021, RGCU consolidated the delivery of all its language courses in the New Executive Language Centre (NELC), with its experts in language training. Due to the pandemic, training took place virtually throughout the year.
