Management Development Programme

The MDP aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills and tools to develop their leadership within the company. It’s an important aspect of internal professional development at the Roca Group. The programme runs for three years and participants receive talks, training, expert master classes and carry out a group project with a view to implementing it in the Roca Group.

Two blocks ran in 2021: the first from January to April and the second starting in November. Both blocks took place virtually, continuing with the format through the Moodle platform.

The first block was focused on the Sikkhona model and was designed to allow participants to put into practice what they had learnt in the training in November 2020. A support forum was set up in the Moodle learning community for participants in the programme. The forum was facilitated by Alex Galofré (coach and creator of the model), with different topics and a repository of support information.

The second part took place in April. Participants on the MDP attended a training session by Vivian Zhang (consultant and marketing expert), which provided an overview of marketing and its applicability across the business. At the end of the block, each team had a chance to trial the presentation of their project (created in 2019 and 2020), with a view to presenting it in person at the end of the MDP.

On the request of the participants, training was provided on the Bridge model for each of their teams. The Bridge model is a powerful tool to help discover and understand different relationship styles to facilitate interpersonal relationships and improve team dynamics.
The second block of the leadership development programme took place in November. Due to the pandemic, it was held virtually from Barcelona via the Moodle training platform.

This part of the MDP programme began on 11 November with a welcome from Xavier Aguilera and the presentation of the programme by Helena Carboné. This second part of the third block, which ran for four days, saw Alex Galofré deliver the Systematic Management Training module.

I was delighted to study on the MDP course. Not only is it a comprehensive solution to enhance working capacity, it is also a treasure trove of wisdom for life.

During the entire programme, a wide-ranging and comprehensive analysis of each participants’ strengths and weaknesses allowed a tailor-made solution to be formulated for each individual. It also included teamwork, group discussions and offline research practice. For example, SBI and ACS, which are all efficient growth models. It has helped me to have smoother communication with team members, build trust and improve cohesion to meet the requirements of a high-performing organisation.

Applying these methods to my daily work gives me the flexibility I need to overcome difficulties. I can continuously implement self-improvement, making my job richer and more colourful. I enjoy my work more than ever.

I would recommend more people do the MDP courses to extract their essence and apply it to your actions and practice. It keeps the organisation interactive and innovative, and inspires infinite possibilities.

Eco-design Training

Sustainability is a key issue for the Group, both at present and over the coming years. It implies a change: we need to do things differently, regardless of which department we work in.

In 2021, we ran an international training course on sustainable design, with 27 participants from the design and marketing areas in Europe of the Roca Group, Laufen, Cosmic and Gala brands.

The training looked at the environmental impacts at all stages of the product design and development process to minimise the impact of products over their full life cycle.

The training covered the benefits of eco-design, examining the strategies applied at each phase of the product life cycle and providing an introduction to the business models of the circular economy.

The sessions were organised around lectures from experts, with collaborative work and exercises among participants. Participants also worked on an eco-briefing proposal for Roca Group products, following a real eco-design strategy.
